Recipients of the Betty Stevens-Frecknall Scholarship Announced
The Foundation for Information Technology Education (EF) is very pleased to announce the recipients of the Betty Stevens-Frecknall Scholarship for the 2007-2008 academic year. This distinguished scholarship is awarded by the Foundation for Information Technology Education to support individuals seeking a degree in an information technology-related program. The Betty Stevens-Frecknall Scholarship is awarded on the basis of scholastic ability, leadership potential, financial need and quality of the application.
The Betty Stevens-Frecknall Scholarship is the result of a generous grant from the estate of Betty Stevens-Frecknall. Betty served as President of the Washington D.C. Chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP), as Association Director (now Chapter Liaison), and as President of the Mid-Atlantic Region. She was a strong advocate for AITP and the opportunities available to its membership.
The selection committee is composed of EF Regents, and representatives from the Stevens-Frecknall estate and the Washington D.C. AITP Chapter. Applications were submitted via the EF website (www.edfoundation.org). After extensive review, the committee has named the following recipients:
Rica Gaines of Charter College, Anchorage, AK
Jamie Schroeder of ITT Technical Institute, Nashville, TN
Jenna
Nisbett of Texas State University, San Marcos, TX
We are extremely grateful to the estate for its confidence in the Foundation's
ability to appropriately manage the endowment and administer the scholarship
selection procedure. It is our hope that these three recipients will
continue to demonstrate leadership, quality in everything they do and will make
noteworthy leadership contributions to the information technology profession in
the future.
Scholarship applications for the 2008-2009 academic year will be available on the (www.edfoundation.org) website after January 1. The submission deadline will be May 31, 2008. More detail about the scholarship is available on the EF website.
